Sugar Labs launched Tuesday in a sugar to retrieve OS v2 Stick Blueberry funds for the education of children. The program was originally developed for One Laptop per Child XO-1 netbook, but this version can be loaded on a Windows PC or Mac and is also available for computers running on Linux.
Improvements in the new version includes easier navigation, more wireless networks, faster updates and gnashing of activities and improved Flash support. There are new activities, including physical and OOo4Kids, together with people and reading existing applications. Allows you to read electronic books in PDF, Epub DejaVu and formats to be read. A reading activity-text reading e-books aloud.
Users can download the software sugar Stick in a USB flash drive with at least 1 GB of free space, and start directly in the host PC that runs on virtualization. Sugar has also been associated with Nexcopy to help distribute the operating system on USB drive, the donation of a 20-Stick Nexcopy USB duplicator.
Selection of activities are :
- GCompris Geography - which allows children to become familiar with the geographical location of countries
- Talk - a face that speaks any text the user, and you can chat with other users
- GCompris read colors - see colors of objects when you click
- GCompris Algebra Plus - allows children to practice out
- Tux Paint - a program that, well, more or less as the average paint program
- GCompris Water Cycle - a great way to learn about the Water Cycle
